July 6th – Travel to Rome, checked into Hotel
Aberdeen. Visited the Baths of
Diocietan (ancient bath house that was converted to a church by
Michelangelo. Lunch at Bufala e Pachino
Pizza. Tour of Coliseum (built in A.D.
80 by Israeli slaves); Roman Forum (was the political, religious and commercial
center of the city – the Arch of Titus (Arco di Tito) is at the entrance to the
forum-commemorated the Roman victory over the province of Judea (Israel)); Arch of Constantine (he legalized
Christianity) and Pantheon (one piece
granite columns shipped from Egypt).
Dinner at Miscellanea (got a free glass of “sexy wine” made from
fragoline – strawberry-flavored grapes).
Gelato at Cremeria Monteforte near the Pantheon. Night walk to Trevi fountain (under renovation
but they built a platform so you could walk out to the fountain and throw in
your coins – (right hand over left shoulder)), Palace and beautiful night view
of Rome.
